Activity Bags (Review & Giveaways)

Activity Bags is a company started by two homeschooling mamas, Paula and Sherri. As with most home businesses, they started out with an idea they could use with their families, and it grew from there.

I love the concept of having a bunch of educational games, activities, and experiments ready for the kids to use. Whenever there is a lull in the school day such as mom working with another child, the kids can grab a bag and work on something quietly. When mom wants a fun science experiment, the prep work has already been done ahead of time.

The first ebook I received for review is Reading Games in a Bag. The games are designed for new and beginning readers, and there are 20 reading games included. Most of the supplies needed can be found around your home. The games are fun and easy to play, but also help build stronger reading skills. You can purchase Reading Games in a Bag for $15.00.

The other ebooks I received were the three science ebooks: Science Experiments in a Bag E-Book 1, Science Experiments in a Bag E-Book 2, and Science Experiments in a Bag E-Book 3. Each ebook contains 25 experiments covering such topics as Biology, General Science, Nature, Chemistry, and the Human Body. The kids learn to observe, ask questions, and draw conclusions.

Again, there is prep work ahead of time, but then you have plenty of experiments ready to go for when you want to do one. The three science ebooks are geared towards K-8th grades, and should be done with adult supervision. The science ebooks are $15.00 a piece, or you can buy all three in a bundle for $39.00.

How we set ours up:
Instead of putting mine in Ziplock baggies, I put mine in page protectors. I liked the idea of putting them in a three ring binder along with a pouch for supplies needed (the glue sticks are actually for another curriculum). For the reading games, the kids simply ask if they can play one. This way I know who has what out. Sometimes an older sibling or mama will play with them. For the science experiments, these are ready for when I’d like to do an experiment.

I really like these ebooks, and would love to get the Travel Activities in a Binder next. This one would definitely come in handy for car trips.
