I have been looking for a gluten-free, natural makeup to try, so imagine my delight when we were asked to review some makeup from Beeyoutiful Skin Mineral Makeup. I have looked into natural and gluten-free makeup before, but the eye colors didn’t seem vibrant. Not so with Beeyoutiful Skin. They have a beautiful array of rich colors.
For this review, we were given 1 sample foundation, 1 foundation brush, 2 sample eye colors (one to be used as lip color), 1 combo brush, and a how-to DVD.
Now before I tell you how I used each item, and what I thought of them, let me mention a couple of things first. If you are new to mineral makeup (as I am), watch the how-to videos on how to use the different products. They have some wonderful ideas to find the right coverage for you. Also, I love their sample program. You can order as many samples as you’d like, for $1.00 each. There should be enough in the samples for you to determine what colors work on you.
The foundation I chose is called Olivia. I tried a couple different ways to apply it, and what worked best for me was to put a small bit of moisturizer on my face first. Then I picked up a little powder with the brush, and buffed it on. I kept doing this until I reached the coverage I wanted. I like a light, even coverage which I found easy to achieve.
I love the finished look this gives, but I’m having a little trouble with it feeling dry. I have a feeling this is due to my lack of drinking enough water. If I go over it with a damp makeup sponge or a little more moisturizer, the problem is easily remedied. By the way, the foundation brush is a nice quality with super soft, thick bristles. Love this brush.
The eye colors I chose are Moss and Raspberry Shimmer. I. Love. Moss. Seriously, this is such a beautiful color and my photos do not do it justice at all.
It can be a super soft shade if applied dry or a deeper more vibrant color when applied wet. I prefer vibrant most of the time, but love the versatility of having a softer option for those days I want a more natural look.
The Raspberry Shimmer I chose to try because I could use it as a lip color, too. This color did not look good as an eye color on me. I’m too fair for a reddish shade on my eyes. However, when using it lightly on my lips, it looked pretty. It can go on dark, but again, I don’t look good with dark lip color. It’s too harsh for me. On a whim, I tried it as a blush, and love it!
The Combo Brush is wonderful for both eye color and lip color. I only had one, so I used the fatter end to apply my Moss eye color, and the thin end to apply the Raspberry Shimmer as a lip color. I would love to get another one. Then I can have one for eyes and one for lips. The thin edge is perfect for lining the eyes.

I really liked the moss green on you, and the raspberry shimmer was really pretty as a lipstick and a blush. But my favorite was the green.

I agree, my fave was the Moss, too. I bet it would be a pretty, soft color on you. I can’t wait to try some other colors. 🙂
Chrystiana Silva says
Hmm I don’t know about that. But I am liking all the bright colors that might be coming for you to try.
Audra Marie says
hehe – maybe someday you’ll do some soft colors, but you are beautiful without it anyway. 🙂
