I’m back! Last week ended up being insanely busy, so I took Thursday and Friday off from this challenge. It was either that or go a little crazy(er). But I’m back, and ready for some more Pinteresting goodness. I mean how can one not be Pinterspired by all the Pintertastic ideas? Okay, I’ll stop now. Onward…
I love crochet, and I love bracelets-especially the multi-strand, wrap style bracelets. So how could I not be inspired by this pin? These are pretty quick to make, and relatively simple. And there are lots of yummy colors and textures available when it comes to yarns, buttons, beads, and whatever your imagination comes up with to add to these.
For my berry bracelet, I used two colors of thin crochet yarn (what you would use for doilies), and crocheted them together. The measurements will vary according to your wrist size, and how many strands you want to wrap around your wrist, and how you plan to close it. For this one, I chained approximately 120 chains (I say approximately because I was distracted by something on the TV) wrapping it around my wrist as I went along to check sizing.
Once I reached my desired length, I single crocheted in the fifth chain from the hook (approximately) using my button as a sizing guide. This creates the button hole. Single crochet all the way to the end. Knot the end. Sew your button on this end (opposite from your button hole). All done, and you are ready to wear your adorable bracelet. They look cute over a thin sleeve, or against your skin.
This is actually the first one I made. I used a thicker yarn, and chained about 215 chains again wrapping it around my wrist every so often to size it. I chained a little extra because I knew I’d do a slide style closure. Once I reached my overall length, I single crocheted back across tying a knot at the end.
To create the slide style closure, I used a combo of these two sources: Handcrafted by Elaine and Square Knot DIY Bracelets Tutorial. Once I finished the square knots over the two ends of my bracelet, I tied a knot on each end.
I love the casual look of this one. I will say, that this yarn is a little itchy on my skin (I have super sensitive skin), so I am going to wash it and use fabric softener to see if that helps. If not, I might wear it over my shirt sleeve instead. It isn’t bad, but I’m funny about the feel of things against my skin.
You can also use these as necklaces, too. If you make them long enough, you can wrap them for a layered look or make several in different colors for a variation on the fun layered look. I will definitely be making lots of these in all sorts of colors, styles, and with fun add ons.
