Some days get a little crazy. We all have those days where we long to soak in a hot bath, or get lost in a book for a while. But what do we do when time is not on our side? Take a mini 5 minute or less break to recharge. You’ll be surprised at how much it refreshes you, and helps you dive back into the fray.

Take a scripture break. Look for a verse on peace, or read Psalm 23. Think on the words for a minute. Let it sink in. Take it with you as you go back to your day.

There is something wonderfully calming about a nice cup of tea in a beautiful teacup. It’s soothing to the body and nerves, and only takes a couple of minutes to brew. When your tea is gone, it’s time to get back on task.

If the weather permits, step outside for a minute. Take in the flowers, trees, landscape…it is amazing how peaceful this can be. Observe nature for a few minutes, and let your mind and spirit settle. God created nature to be restorative. Remember Psalm 23?

Pet a cat. Or a dog. Maybe a bunny. Seriously, take a minute and pet them. There is a reason animals are used in therapy. They have a calmness that transfers to you simply by petting or snuggling with them.

Music is wonderful. Turn some calm or relaxing music on. Close your eyes, and let the melody wash over you. Or choose something upbeat and dance around the room. Play an instrument? Pick it up and play for a minute or two.
These are even more powerful mini breaks if you combine more than one idea. Step outside with your tea. Listen to music while petting your cat. You get the idea. Learn to steal moments of peace to recharge. Even though they are quick breaks, they really do help recharge you.
How do you recharge when time is short?

Love your list. I think it is important for mommas especially to take a few short breaks during the day to recharge. Sometimes I steal away for a few minutes and just read one chapter of a book.

It is definitely important to take a moment here and there. Just a few minutes really helps. I like your idea about reading a chapter. Although, I might not be able to stop if it’s a good novel lol.

That cup of tea looks so inviting! I think end up relaxing by looking at Facebook and blogs! Maybe I should try one of your ideas :).

I do that sometimes, but I find it more restful to step away from the electronics. Then my mind can quiet, too. The tea was delicious. 🙂

I sneak away to eat chocolate! 🙂
Those are some great ideas! I should try the Scripture or tea idea – much fewer calories!

Oh yum, Lexi! Unfortunately, I can’t have dairy. But I recently saw a dairy free baking chips alternative. I may have to try them. 🙂

We can’t have dairy either. We eat Enjoy Life Bars or chocolate chips. They are yummy!!
My other blog: http://www.hivesinthekitchen.blogspot.com has our dairy free recipes (gluten free, egg free, nut free, soy free, sesame free…………..etc). We have allergic kiddos.
I also drink chocolate hemp milk when I have a chocolate craving. And chocolate coconut yogurt. Yummy!
