Right before the new year began, I stumbled upon calendar journal pages on Pinterest. I have an art journal, but couldn’t get past the first blank page. Art journals are a whole new creative outlet for me. I felt intimidated. But the calendar pages seemed like a good way to break into this area.
Pinterest led me to a website that led me to The Kathryn Wheel, and to the challenge to record my year this way. She also has a Facebook group which I joined. I have to admit, it was mighty hard to show off my pages amidst the beautiful and talented pages on there.
The ladies are wonderfully encouraging, and I look forward to doing more – both normal art pages and monthly journal pages. So above is my first art journal page and my first calendar journal page all in one. I’ve already learned some things, and will be tweaking my pages soon. I’ll show it off again at the end of the month as well as give you a preview of February’s pages.
Now…I must organize these craft supplies…
Do you have an art journal? Have you ever tried calendar art journal pages? Such a fun way to capture the highlight of each day.

That’s really cute! I’ve been wanting to do the art journal thing too…but it IS intimidating. Plus, I always wonder what I’d do with it when I was done. However, having a calendar journal would be a fun thing because then I could have a record of my year. Oh wait, I know what would be awesome! A calendar journal for the new baby…a year of special firsts or fun memories… Hmmm… I guess I better get on that! Actually, by the time I get on that, there will be another little one. Ha! Anyway, super cute…are the little circles dated?

The kids would enjoy it for generations to come. So do one. 🙂 Inbetween my monthly calendar journal pages, I’m hoping to play with normal art journal pages. Still intimidating, but I can only get better by playing with it. Thanks for the compliments. And yes, the circles are dated. 🙂
