Papa’s Pearls is a delightful book packed with insightful quips, and wonderful stories about a fascinating man, Carol Joseph Flynn. Diane Flynn Keith shares stories about her papa’s life as well as the many pearls of wisdom he ingrained in his children and grandchildren. Her papa was a Depression Era kid in need of a serious course correction. Thankfully, he had some life changing experiences that set him on the right path where he became a successful businessman, as well as a loving father, and compassionate man. Diane has graciously shared his hard learned truths with us through Papa’s Pearls.
Papa’s Pearls is 112 pages, and I found it a quick, easy read. As soon as I finished, I turned to my husband and told him this book should be read by parents and business people. In fact, we will be reading this in the evenings for family read aloud time, and discussing each pearl of wisdom. I know there will be some wonderful discussions taking place. As for the book, it will have a permanent spot on my bookshelf.
A Couple of Pearls:
What’s the Worst Thing that Could Happen?
Tell Yourself You Like It.
It’s Time for a Back Rub.
I Love You. You Know That, Right?
What Were You Thinking?
Where’s the Money?
Keep a Foxy Pocket.
Now these examples I listed are missing the whole story and meaning behind them. You have to read the book for these, and the many other pearls. I’ll be applying a lot of these truths to my relationships and life in general. I love how authentic this book reads, and the glimpse Diane gives us into her family’s lives. She has written a wonderful tribute to her papa, but more than that, she has shared applicable truths we can take away with us.
Papa’s Pearls is available as an autographed copy for $14.97 plus $7.00 shipping and handling.
