I’m excited about this upcoming year, and all the big fat drops of life waiting to let loose. I want more book studies, creativity, and focus on the Lord, so I decided to kick off the year by working through The Creative Call: An Artist’s Response to the Way of the Spirit by Janice Elsheimer.
The study will begin on January 6th, 2013, and last ten weeks. Here’s the breakdown:
Week 1: Jan. 6th-12th: Read the Foreword, Preface and Introduction. Begin your Daybook this week if desired.
Week 2: Jan. 13th-19th: Read and work through Chapter 1.
Week 3: Jan. 20th-26th: Read and work through Chapter 2. Begin your Daybook if you haven’t yet.
Week 4: Jan. 27th-Feb. 2nd: Read and work through Chapter 3.
Week 5: Feb. 3rd-9th: Read and work through Chapter 4.
Week 6: Feb. 10th-16th: Read and work through Chapter 5.
Week 7: Feb. 17th-23rd: Read and work through Chapter 6.
Week 8: Feb. 24th-Mar. 2nd: Read and work through Chapter 7.
Week 9: Mar. 3rd-9th – Read and work through Chapter 8.
Week 10: Mar. 10th-16th – Read and work through Conclusion. Consider scheduling an Artist’s Retreat.
The book has ample room in the margins, and lines to fill in (workbook style) so plan to mark it up and own it.
Other than the book, all you need is a notebook or journal to use as your Daybook. Janice recommends journaling for 20 minutes a day. It’s a small commitment, but you might be surprised by how useful this practice is for creativity. Oh and your favorite pen would be handy. Maybe a cup of tea, too.
I would love to have you join me on this journey. Please leave a comment if you’d like to participate. No blog needed, however, I will add a linky on this post in case someone would like to add a blog post about taking on this study. I’ll also have a post with a linky at the beginning of each week, open all week, so you can add your thoughts from your study at the end of each week. Catch all that? Now sign up, you know you want to. And if you find this after we start? No worries, we’d love to have you. This link will stay open until the last day of the study on March 16th.
