The phone rings, and I glance at the caller ID. Salesman. I answer using my bored, don’t bug me voice. The one I feel convicted about every. time. I. use. it. But sometimes they drive me nuts. Like when they will not take no for an answer. Regardless, I should reflect a more godly countenance. I know this. Someday, I may actually achieve this.
But today was different. This guy left me laughing when I hung up. And he made me think.
He called about my Enoikeo Photography domain which is not a business, but somehow has managed to sound like one. It’s absorbed into this blog, and will someday stand on its own again. So I explain this to him. And he graciously stepped out of sales mode and into relational mode. He asked me why Enoikeo Photography?
Why indeed. I barely remember. Barely remember how I felt when I chose the name. The passion I felt when capturing life through the lens. The thrill of getting that awesome photograph.
After explaining the name as best I could remember, he shared how he used to be passionate about photography. He even took a course, but stopped before reaching the end. He said he’d changed. Yet, I don’t think so. I mean we all change; life does that. Oh, how life does that to us. But those core passions? I don’t think so.
I think he misplaced his passion. Like I have. I bet if he picked up the camera, and went out into life, he’d feel it stirring up inside. An ember coming back to life. I should have said this to him. Encouraged him.
So instead, I write. I write to all of you who have lost your passion. What is your passion? When did you lose it? And do you dare pick up camera, pen, paintbrush, guitar…whatever? Do you dare play with your passion?
I know the ember will be fanned into flame. The more you do it, the bigger the flame. And then that passion for life will spill over into other areas, and into other lives. A water fountain of passion for life flowing down only to be lifted back up, and flow down all over again. Can you see it? Do you hear it? Life calling. Passions stirring.
We left it with this stranger on the phone finding my blog. I don’t imagine it’s his style. I do wish he would leave a comment though. I’d tell him to go pick up his camera.

Love it too, Audra! Plus your new layout is fantastic! Did you do it or have someone else work on it for you?

Thanks, Michele. I designed it myself. ๐

So true, dearie. ๐ If we’re not passionate about what we’re doing, we need to either change our attitude or change what we’re doing! See you later today!

Definitely something to think about – is it my attitude or what I’m doing. ๐
